King Harold III ruled Crownvale in the long anxious years when The Frost Corruption stopped being a distant frontier threat and began shaping ordinary life across the peninsula. He inherited a crown with old grandeur still attached to it, but his reign appears to have been one of maintenance rather than triumph: keeping trade moving, keeping the Royal Guard disciplined, and keeping the capital from looking as frightened as it had become.
Harold was not the sort of king ballads prefer. He seems to have ruled by caution, private audience, and trusted channels rather than spectacle. Under his reign, High Alden remained outwardly ordered even as refugees filled its wards, trade routes failed, and institutions like The Collegium Arcanum began sealing their records. The work was quiet, but it was work, and that quiet steadiness is part of why his loss has struck the realm so hard.
He is also the father of the King Regent. Whatever history decides about his reign, his daughter learned enough from his court to hold the crown together in secret after his fall.
