Tim was abandoned young on the streets of Gildwater and grew up between alleys, dockside corners, and whatever orphanages would keep him for a season before he slipped back out again. He learned early how to read a room, how to spot trouble before it arrived, and how to hold on to the few things that were actually his. For most of those years he was a skinny little dwarf held together by stubbornness more than food, and the name Tiny Arm Tim stayed with him long after the rest of him started catching up.

The turn in his life came when he wandered into the Hatter of Hearthmere's shop on Port Street in Gildwater, cold, hungry, and expecting to be thrown out. Instead, the Hatter fed him, let him stay the afternoon, and found the rough little dwarf endearing enough to keep making room for him. Tim sat quietly in the shop while hats were fitted, orders were negotiated, and wealthy clients spoke more freely than they realized. Without meaning to, he started learning how the better-dressed parts of Crownvale worked.

Hatter of Hearthmere continued to help Tim find his way in the world and make connections across Crownvale. That was how he came to know Ummonlim Ovalbelly, Triston King, Pax Inferno, and Mr. Duck. Tim still carries the instincts of a street kid, but now they are tied to something steadier: once he decides someone is his people, he becomes very hard to move and even harder to scare away.
